Special Assistance

 U7 offers a range of services for passengers who require special assistance. Acceptance for carriage of unaccompanied children (5 years to 11years old) upon payment of a service fee, passengers with reduced mobility, pregnant women, persons with illness or other people requiring special assistance is subject to prior arrangement with us. The Airline will require you to fill in an UM form or Special Assistance form accessed through our website on www.air-uganda.com

Please note that we will not be able to offer you seats at the emergency exit row.

On the day of departure:

If you are using a battery-operated electric wheelchair or electric mobility aid, please check in early for your flight (approximately 2-3 hours before flight departure) to ensure timely stowage of your device.

You can check in your electric wheelchair during check-in. We will then provide you with a wheelchair and extend our meet-and-assist service to you.

If you require any assistance within the airport, please inform us of during check-in. We will then extend our meet-and-assist service to you.

We offer the following services:

  • Pre-boarding
  • Assistance to use the onboard wheelchair
  • Assistance to move from wheelchair to the lavatory

We are unable to offer:

  • Assistance with feeding of meals
  • Assistance within the restroom or assistance at the seat with defecation and/or urination functions
  • Provision of medical services

Should you require the above-mentioned services, we advise that you travel with a personal care assistant.

Expectant Mothers

It is important that you inform your gynecologist of your proposed travel plans and obtain medical guidance before making your flight reservations.

For uncomplicated single pregnancies, we restrict expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 28th week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).

For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, we restrict expectant mothers from travelling beyond the 24th week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).

For uncomplicated single pregnancies between 28 weeks and 32 weeks of pregnancy, expectant mothers are required to provide a medical certificate, duly signed by a certified gynecologist, stating the following: (1) fitness to travel, (2) number of weeks of pregnancy and (3) estimated date of delivery. The certificate should be dated within ten days of the date of the first flight. This certificate will have to be presented at check-in when requested.

For uncomplicated multiple pregnancies, you need to present the medical certificate if you are travelling between the 24th and 30th week of pregnancy (calculated based on the expected date of delivery).

You are, at all times, required to carry your Antenatal Chart proof of your antenatal status. If any of your return flight exceeds 28 weeks of pregnancy, you will need to present a medical certificate.

Travelling with Pets

Air Uganda is committed to providing a caring, comfortable and stress-free service for you and your pet. Read on for more information on pet carriage.

Please note that:

  • Carriage of pets in the aircraft cabin is not permitted.
  • Carriage of all live animals is not allowed on flights operated by the CRJ-200.
  • Carriage of cats and dogs is allowed on flights operated by the MD87.

Advanced arrangements for pet travel services are required; please alert your travel agent or local Air Uganda Cargo office at the time of booking or at least 2 weeks in advance that you will be travelling with your pet.

We will check on space availability and provide advice on the regulations and requirements for the carriage of pets to your country of destination and/or transit points.

We will require Please provide us with the following information on your pet:

  • Type i.e. breed or species
  • Gender
  • Name
  • Age
  • Color
  • Weight of cage and pet
  • Dimensions of cage (length x breadth x height)
  • Import / export permit numbers (if any)
  • Essential documents and Health Requirements

Each Airport requires health documents filled in. Please contact our cargo office for assistance.

Your may be required to have the following documents ready for your pet at least seven days prior to departure:

  • Valid export/import permits from the relevant government authorities of your destination/transit countries;
  • Valid health and rabies vaccination certificates from appropriate government authorities of your destination/transit countries;
  • Any additional or special documents that may be required by government authorities of your destination/transit countries.

Please ensure that your pet meets the appropriate quarantine requirements. Your pet may be subjected to quarantine on arrival at your expense. The quarantine period may vary, depending on the destination's veterinary authority. Please refer to the list of veterinary authorities on the right of this page.

Pets not accepted for travel

Some animals are prohibited from travel on our flights. These include:

  • Household pets (dogs and cats) less than 6 months old
  • All birds, except for farmed ostriches, emus, and birds shipped between government zoos
  • Pigs (on all passenger aircraft)
  • All primates intended for research purposes
  • All snub-nosed dogs such as Pekinese, Shih-Tzus, Boxers, Bulldogs, and Pugs
  • The following dog breeds and their cross-breeds: All terriers, All Boxers, All Pugs, All Bulldogs, All Spaniels, All Mastiff, Brussels Griffin, Chow Chow, Japanese Chin, Lhasa Apso, Pekinese, Pit Bull, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Tosa, Akita, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brazillero & their crosses            

Cognitive Disabilities

Reservations Information:   If you have cognitive disabilities, please notify the Airline at least 48 hours before flight departure.

You would need to travel with a safety assistant at your cost if

  • Some means of communication to transmit the safety briefing cannot be established between our staff and yourself.
  • The established means of communication does not adequately satisfy the objectives of permitting communication of the safety briefing.

Please note that we will not be able to offer you a seat at the emergency exit row.

On the day of the departure

If you require any assistance within the airport, please inform us during check-in. We will require you to check in at least 2 hours before the flight to then extend our meet-and-assist service to you during boarding, disembarkation and connection between flights.

Sensory Impairment

Reservations information: For passengers, who have both severe vision and hearing impairments; please notify the Airline at least 48 hours before flight departure.

We would require you to travel with a safety assistant if

  • you cannot establish some means of communication with carrier personnel for us to transmit the safety briefing, or
  • the means of communication explained to us does not adequately satisfy the objectives of permitting communication of the safety briefing.

Please note that we will not be able to offer you emergency exit row seat.

On the day of departure

We would also like to request that you check-in early for your flight (approximately 2-3 hours before flight departure) to ensure a smooth flight experience.

If you require any assistance within the airport, please inform us of your needs at check-in. We will be able to extend our meet-and-assist service to you to help in boarding, disembarkation and also during flight connections.

We offer the following services:

  • Assistance to/from gates and flight connections
  • For the visually handicapped, our cabin crew shall conduct a special safety briefing before take-off to highlight the procedures to be followed in the event of an evacuation, and to orientate the passenger to the surroundings. We can also provide assistance in preparation for meals consumption, such as opening of packages and identifying food.

We are unable to offer:

  • Assistance with feeding of meals
  • Assistance within the restroom or assistance at the seat with defecation and/or urination functions
  • Provision of medical services.

Should you require the above-mentioned services, we would require you to have a personal care assistant as a travel companion
