Though Air Uganda is a newly registered airline, we certainly are not novices in the industry, in fact we are part of a group that has over 40 years of experience in aviation.
Air Uganda is part of the Meridiana group that is based in Olbia - Costa Esmeralda Airport, Italy. Meridiana was founded as Alisarda in 1963 by the Aga Khan as an air-taxi and charter operator to promote tourism to Sardinia. Scheduled services began in 1964 from Olbia. The name Meridiana was adopted in May 1991. The first international services were operated later in 1991 to Barcelona, Paris, London and Frankfurt.
At present Meridiana has grown and expanded to support airlines in Europe , West Africa and East Africa. The group airlines in Europe are Meridiana and EuroFly while our West African airlines are Air Burkina and Air Mali. The Meridiana group has a combined fleet size of 38 aircraft.
